VCYSA History

The History of VCYSA Vigo County Youth Soccer Association, a non-for-profit Indiana corporation, is part of the Indiana Youth Soccer Association (IYSA), which has a current membership base of 62,278 youth players, 8,000 active coaches, 3,800 referees and thousands of volunteers through its network of over 143 local clubs across the state of Indiana.

IYSA is the National State Association member of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Youth Soccer Association. Competitive soccer started in Terre Haute 29 years ago with the formation of the Terre Haute Youth Soccer Association. At the time, the Club was comprised of 100 players and divided into 8 teams based upon age.

In 1980, the name was changed to Vigo County Youth Soccer Association to better represent the geographical area the players came from. Since then, VCYSA has grown into a Club that has over 1,000 participants a year that are divided into over 101 teams and supported by over 200 volunteers.

The Club offers two levels of competition for the players, recreational and travel. The recreational program allows players to play soccer in a developmental structure. The travel program offers excellent opportunities for development and higher level competition for players wanting to take their game to the next level and in anticipation of playing at the high school level and even beyond. Travel players compete in tournaments and against other teams within an 80-mile radius from Indianapolis
